Fighting hate crime and stopping anti-social behaviour |
||
#TogetherFor Bedfordshire | This week has been #HateCrimeAwarenessWeek – a moment for all our community teams to show we stand united against ALL forms of hate. Officers across the county have been meeting people committed to fostering understanding and acceptance across communities. If you or someone you know has experienced or witnessed a hate crime, don’t remain silent. There are safe and confidential routes available to report incidents and seek support. And members of our Luton Community Policing Team and Cohesion team did what you might call “active policing”, taking part in the Love Luton running festival to emphasise that message. But, as we always say, community policing is a combination of engagement and enforcement and our Biggleswade Community Policing Team had success this week after a tip-off from a member of the public who just had a gut feeling something wasn’t right. A stop and search in Langford led to a house where officers discovered a large quantity of Class A and B drugs, cash and phones. You might not always see us, but we are always working behind the scenes, gathering intelligence to catch those involved with drug dealing and other crimes. Our Bedford team were also out and about following reports of anti-social behaviour in the Cauldwell area. They arrested one man in possession of a large quantity of drugs, seized e-scooters and carried out searches in a targeted operation. Finally, you probably know the saying about all work and no play…and that’s why trainee Police Dog Cooper from our Luton Airport Police Unit was in the garden. It might LOOK like he’s made a mess, but he was definitely “helping”. Don’t forget you can report concerns directly to us here: https://www.beds.police.uk/ro/report or call 101.
