I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle Crime - theft from / theft of, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Each year we see criminals take advantage of shorter daylight hours, leading to spikes in crimes like vehicle break-ins, burglaries and personal robberies. We’re working hard to apprehend those responsible and would ask that you continue to report any crimes to us. These reports help us build a better picture of where and when these offences are taking place and establish any links that might lead us to the offenders. While our enquires are paramount, there are steps you can take to help make things harder for criminals to operate and stop them in their tracks. 🔒Did you lock your car door? It’s so easy to forget after a long day at work when all we want to do is get home and stick the kettle on. An unlocked door gives criminals the chance to root through any personal belongings in your car with ease.
👀What’s on display? We know this doesn’t stop offending, but removing valuable items from your car or ensuring they are not on display can lower the chances of your vehicle being targeted. 🚫Have you heard of a Faraday pouch? A Faraday pouch is a small, portable bag lined with a special metallic mesh that blocks electromagnetic signals. It's designed to protect keyless car fobs from relay theft; a method used by criminals to intercept and amplify the signal from your car key to unlock and start your vehicle — even if the key is inside your home. 🪛Got tools? Get them marked! Security marking kits can be purchased online and used to mark your valuables like tools or your mobile phone. Once marked, you can register your items via www.immobilise.com which increases the chances of your belongings being returned to you if lost or stolen.
