Policing in the community update |

|
#TogetherForBedfordshire | Well, we remarked last week how grim and grey the weather was, and it’s not improved much, has it ? But that doesn’t stop our officers getting out and about, keeping our communities safe in rain and shine, and using their experience to recognise when something odd is going on. So, when Leighton Buzzard officers spotted people gathering round a youth on an e-scooter, suspicions were raised. They managed to stop and search the young man, finding drugs and cash, before heading to his house to find lots more cash in a neat cashbox and more drugs. They’ve been seized…and so has the e-scooter. A similar story in Bedford where officers on routine patrol in Queens Park stopped to speak to a driver over driving offences: checks showed he was on a provisional licence, not insured and cannabis was found in the car! The car has been seized. But community safety is about more than just stopping drugs dealers or fighting street crime. Speeding can be a very real danger, so when our Ampthill community team received reports of speeding cars in the village of Steppingley, they made it their business to carry out speed checks in the village to reassure local residents. Of course, keeping visitors and travellers safe is also a top priority, which is why officers from our Luton Airport team are constantly on the lookout as part of #ProjectServator at the airport, around the perimeter and on the DART. Don’t forget you can report issues directly to us here: https://www.beds.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about or call 101. You can also report anonymously at Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. Information we receive from the community really helps the way we deploy resources and tackle crime.
