962 - Eaton Bray

Our community policing teams are dedicated to proactively tackling issues that matter most to our communities and address the core root of a problem, finding a long term solution. Split across local hubs, as well as an airport community team and the Community Enforcement team, officers have a visible presence in our communities engaging with the local public and prioritising activity based on the needs of the local people.

Partnership working is the key to community policing success and teams work closely with other organisations to maintain good networks and monitor community needs, working together to fully understand a problem and tailor the response to get the best results.

Community Policing Update: Speeding Concerns in the Village

The local community policing team is fully aware of the persistent concerns regarding excessive vehicle speeds through the village, particularly in proximity to local schools. We recognise the potential risks posed to both residents and vulnerable road users, and we take these concerns seriously.

Issued 03 October 2025

In response, we are actively collaborating with our partner agencies to implement both immediate and long-term solutions. In the short term, we are able to deploy mobile speed enforcement cameras to deter and detect speeding offences. Additionally, we are engaging with the local authority to explore sustainable traffic-calming measures. These may include the installation of speed humps, permanent speed cameras, and other infrastructure designed to reduce vehicle speeds and enhance road safety.
We remain committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all members of the community and will continue to provide updates as progress is made. We encourage residents to report specific incidents or concerns to assist us in targeting enforcement and informing future planning.

Totternhoe - Speeding

Tackling Speeding in the Village
We are aware of ongoing concerns about vehicles speeding through the village, and we want to reassure residents that this issue is being taken seriously.
Speeding not only endangers lives but also affects the quality of life for everyone in the community. In response, we are working with partner agencies and local authorities to implement a range of measures aimed at reducing speeding and improving road safety.

Issued 03 October 2025

What’s Being Done:

Targeted Police Patrols: Officers are conducting regular speed checks in known hotspots.
Community Speed Watch: Volunteers can help monitor and report speeding vehicles. If this is something that you could assist with then please contact the council or your local police community police officer.
Traffic Calming Measures: We are exploring permanent solutions such as speed humps and signage improvements with Central Bedfordshire Council.
Public Engagement: We’re speaking with residents to identify problem areas and raise awareness about the dangers of speeding.

How You Can Help:

Drive responsibly and encourage others to do the same.
Report persistent speeding concerns to us via 101 or online.
Consider joining or supporting the Community Speed Watch initiative
